I don't know gimp, but in the Win world there's AutoPano which does exactly this (though it's GUI driven, but I'm sure in the linux world the equivalent will have command line support to make it scriptable). Someone requested this feature more than six years ago, and it still hasn't been implemented. I would like to see in Nemo (file manager) - Folder icons that preview items inside themĪs for ALF - I have the complete series collection and from time to time I watch it, it makes me laugh and feel good!ĭon't bother. last semester in University I had to make Windows Phone apps with visual studio - I didn't like it but who asked me). On my desktop computer where I work most of the time I have dual boot Windows 7/Linux Mint, because sometimes I have to use some software which Linux don't support (e.g. So I don't see why to put effort in changing the OS. Also it came pre installed with windows 8.1 and I use this for writing, watching videos, using itunes/itools, sometimes programming. I don't use windows for my laptop, because it's battery dies for 2 hours in Linux, in windows 8.1 it lasts for 5 hours. In Linux (Mint) every new update bring good, not crap (like in windows). Not to mention that in the fist months of every next windows release - half of the software don't work correctly (if even work). They bring unwanted major changes in the UI, they change the location of buttons, settings, lots of stuff - just to make people think this is a new OS, rather than remix (crappy one). It is true, that Linux is getting better and better every year and version! I am not a windows hater, but I get mad when they release a new version of windows. Post like yours makes my day : ) You have the right attitude for success with this OS, my friend I love the helpful attitude towards others the the willingness to share knowledge - that in itself is a valid reason to switch - most probably never switching back ! No problem using an external editor, installing KolourPaint nowīest about Linux is the community. Now what's missing is the auto scroll which I will open a feature request to the developers I've now found how to autosave with Shutter, as well as how to enable the editor ( I uploaded a here for other users who might encounter this question ) It's been ok so far, definitely not as polished as Win but that doesn't worry me - as long as it's stable Therefore last month I made an acronis image of Win7 at home, and clean installed Mint. This is my first attempt to use it at home as my desktop MAIN OS ! I've used Windows for the past 20 years up to and including 8.1 (on my work laptop) but I think that Linux is now at a point where it is stable and usable enough to be a full desktop OS I know that first encounter with Linux is hard (not that Linux is hard, but when your whole life you've been using windows. When you say someone you use linux - he begins to see you as hacker or some computer guru for some reason. Even the attitude toward linux users is different. Every beginning is hard, but if you continue your path in the Linux rabbit hole - hopefully you will be amazed how cool that is. If you have watched the movie Matrix - for me when I stopped being Windows user for long time - I felt like Neo when he was unplugged from the matrix. If Linux makes you happy and fulfils your needs - again welcome to a community where you will be treated as a human being, not cash cow (win). Yes, I know, there are pros and cons of using different OSs. Even the people in this forums who help other people don't get a cent about what they are doing. In this case you can collaborate and make a program with this important criteria you have or maybe you can give suggestions to the people developing Shutter (for free) with this features.Įvery piece of that OS is made by volunteers and enthusiasts. I'm definitely not the only Linux user with these (basic) requirements, right ?
